Jefferson County property tax assessments up 8.5% in 2006

Property-tax assessments in Jefferson County for the 2006 tax year totaled $509 million, an 8.5-percent increase from the $469.5 million assessed in 2005, according to a news release Thursday from county Tax Assessor Dan Weinrib.
